Wishlist

Your gear, gifted by your fans.

A fan who wants to help doesn't know what to give you. Your wishlist answers before they ask: a specific item, its price, its photo. They gift it in one go or put in a share, and the money lands with you.

On Malo Ferrand's page

A mic, funded together

Two fans each put a share into the Shure SM7B: the gauge fills up, the item becomes “Gifted” and their shares land on the wall.

Fictional example: Malo Ferrand's page, made-up amounts.

How it works
  1. You paste the product page

The link to a product page from Thomann, Woodbrass or another retailer. VYU reads the name, the price and the photo, you fill in by hand if the page can't be read. Two or three items are enough.

  2. A fan gifts it all, or a share

The item's price is the goal. A fan can gift the whole thing, or chip in from €5: an expensive item gets funded by several fans, with a gauge that rises with every share. Every gesture becomes a story with the item's photo.

  3. The money lands on your account

Every payment goes straight to your Stripe account, without going through VYU. When the item is funded, you get an email with the order link, and you order it yourself, whenever you want. Shipping is on you.

  4. On your page, “Gifted by Camille”

The item becomes “gifted”, with the fan's first name. You can mark it “received”: the badge reassures those who hesitate. Every gift and every share is on your wall, with the fan's note and your reply.

Safeguards

No address, no middleman.

  • Nobody asks for your address

VYU buys nothing, sells nothing, ships nothing. You order from the retailer yourself, and your address is never asked for, let alone shared.

  • You know what you keep

On each payment, VYU keeps 5% + €0.25 (5% + $0.30 for a page in dollars), payment fees included, unless the fan chooses to cover them. Your dashboard shows, for each item, what you receive after fees.

  • Nothing before Stripe

Until you connect your Stripe account, your wishlist offers “Tell me”: fans who want to give leave their first name, and we write to them once when payments open.

Questions

Before you start

Where does the gear come from?
From the shop you pick (Thomann, Woodbrass or another). You paste the product page into your wishlist. When a fan gifts it, you get the money on your account and order it yourself with the link.
Where does my fans' money go?
Straight to your account. Your fans pay on your page, one of them or several together, and Stripe sends every payment to your bank account, without going through VYU. For an item on your wishlist, you then order it yourself from the shop you choose.
What does it cost?
Nothing to create your page. On each payment received (gift or contribution), VYU keeps 5% + €0.25 (5% + $0.30 for a page in dollars), payment fees included. When paying, your fans can choose to cover this fee. Stripe pays the money into your account.
Do I have to declare what I receive?
Possibly, depending on your situation and country. Money from your fans may count as income from your activity, to declare for tax, and for social contributions if it becomes regular. On Stripe, you sign up as “Individual / Sole proprietor”: that's its box for individuals, it doesn't create a company and doesn't exempt you from anything. VYU doesn't give tax advice: if in doubt, check with your tax office or an accountant.
